Minions is a 2015 American 3D computer-animated comedy film,[8] and a prequel/spin-off to the Despicable Me franchise. Produced by Illumination Entertainment for Universal Pictures, the film was written by Brian Lynch, directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda, and produced by Chris Meledandri and Janet Healy.[9] The film stars Coffin (as the Minions), Sandra Bullock, Jon Hamm, Michael Keaton, Allison Janney, Steve Coogan, and narrated by Geoffrey Rush. The film was first foreshadowed in the ending credits of Despicable Me 2, where Stuart, Kevin, and Bob, three of the Minions, are seen auditioning for the film.[10]
Minions premiered on June 11, 2015, in London, and was released in the United States on July 10, 2015 to mixed reviews, and has grossed over $416 million.
Jurassic World is a 2015 American science fiction adventure film directed by Colin Trevorrow. It is the fourth film in the Jurassic Park series. The screenplay was co-written by Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, Derek Connolly, and Trevorrow. The film stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D'Onofrio, Ty Simpkins, Nick Robinson, Omar Sy, B.D. Wong, and Irrfan Khan. Set twenty-two years after the events of Jurassic Park, Jurassic Worldtakes place on the same fictional island of Isla Nublar, where afully-functioning dinosaur theme park has operated for ten years. Thepark plunges into chaos when a genetically modified dinosaur, Indominus rex, breaks loose and runs rampant across the island.
Universal Pictures intended to begin production on a fourth Jurassic Park film in 2004 for a summer 2005 release, but the film entered over a decade of development hell while the script went through revisions. Steven Spielberg, director of the first two Jurassic Park films, acted as executive producer as he had for Jurassic Park III. Thomas Tull also acted as executive producer;[6] his production company, Legendary Pictures, funded approximately 20 percent of the film's budget.[7] Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley produced the film.
Jurassic World was released by Universal on June 10, 2015 inEuropean countries, June 11 in Australia, India and Malaysia, and June12 in North America. It broke numerous records during its opening weekend, including the biggest opening weekendin North America, and the highest-grossing opening worldwide. It is thefirst film to gross $500 million worldwide in a single weekend, thefastest film to accrue $1 billion, the third-highest-grossing film of 2015, the eighth-highest-grossing film of all time and the highest-grossing film in the Jurassic Park film series.
